Eco-Greendeals Boilers

How Efficient is Your Boiler ?

All new boilers carry an energy efficiency rating, indicating how efficient they are at converting fuel into heat. This is a similar scoring method which is used across all new appliances including white goods, to make it easier for consumers to see at a glance how efficient any appliance is.

You can put your current boiler make and model details into a google search, which will indicate how energy efficiency your particular appliance is. An A rating is the most efficient and the higher up the alphabet the rating is recorded, indicates the more deficient the boiler.

The news and media are always referring to global warming, high energy bills and energy saving methods, and by improving and upgrading your boiler to an A rated model, will assist with reducing both your property’s carbon emissions and utility spend.

If you are concerned about your energy bills and carbon emissions, it is a valuable exercise to check the rating of your boiler, and look at replacing this, if it appears an older model, or has a low efficiency rating. A new A rated boiler will be more efficient to run, therefore using less energy, which obviously assists with reducing utility costs.

Did You Know?

The average annual dual-fuel bill covering gas and electricity is a staggering £1,315 per household!

If your boiler looks old and your energy bills feel expensive, then most likely you would be better off with our advice. A good quality condensing boiler can offer considerable savings on your annual fuel bills.

How much could I save each year?

This will depend on how old and inefficient your existing boiler is and the fuel your boiler uses. Below are some examples of potential savings for a home heated by gas central heating.

Upgrading an old gas boiler with a programmer and room thermostat, with a new A-rated condensing boiler with a programmer, room thermostat and thermostatic radiator controls (TRVs) could save you:

  • G (<70%)
  • F (70-74%)
  • E (74-78%)
  • D (78-82%)
  • £215
  • £145
  • £115
  • £85
  • £350
  • £240
  • £190
  • £140
  • £175
  • £120
  • £95
  • £70
  • £95
  • £65
  • £50
  • £35

These are estimated figures based on installing a new A-rated condensing boiler with a programmer, room thermostat and thermostatic radiator controls (TRVs) in a gas-heated home from an older boiler with a programmer and room thermostat. Savings will vary depending on the size and thermal performance of your home. Figures are based on fuel prices as of March 2016.

The costs for replacing a boiler will vary, but a straightforward gas boiler replacement plus thermostatic radiator valves will typically cost about £2,300 excluding radiator

In most cases, it is 100% free. In rare instances, if the calculated cost of the work comes to more than the grant you may be asked to make a contribution.

This can happen if there is additional work needed and/or the property is already efficient. You will be advised of any contribution during the free survey and will have time to decide whether or not you want to proceed.

It is very rare our customers are asked to contribute towards new heating boilers. If the situation was ever to occur we would put in writing the additional cost and let you decide, however customer contributions are rare but always feel free to ask.

No. We will carry out your survey and also complete the necessary paperwork. We will require your authorisation though. Generally we require your signatures on forms but process all the submission for you to access the funding for you or your property.

Yes, as a company we adhere to strict quality management systems and enforce them at all times. If you are ever in doubt your engineer will always carry his gas ID card, so do not hesitate to ask the engineer to verify him/her self.

Depending on the make and model of the new boiler, you will receive a manufacturer’s guarantee, which can vary from model to model. The length of the guarantee will be confirmed during the installation process.

We work closely with the utility companies who fund the schemes, and boiler manufacturers to supply and install the most suitable boiler for your property. If however, you have a preferred make and model you wish us to consider installing, please suggest and discuss this with us, and we will advise you accordingly whether this is possible.

Once we have received your application and it has been vetted, only from your application being vetted the process takes on average 10 days. However we do aim to meet all installations within 7 working days.

Installation normally takes 1 – 2 days depending on the amount of work required.

This will depend on the amount of work needed in the property. For instance, if pipe work needs to be re-routed it will be messier than a straightforward boiler swap. The surveyor should be able to give you an indication of how much work is needed and address any concerns you may have. Whatever the case, the installers will clear up any mess afterwards.

Yes of course you can! Just let our engineer know during the technical survey, and we will be able to include our request within our process and recommendations.
